 JANUARY  9 Games No

Cheddington Cubs will resume on Wednesday January 9th with a session at the usual times of 7.00pm to 8.15pm at the Scout Hut. As we are still working through the programme for the term, we will be doing some games and re-arranging the sixes and sixers.

   16 Brains or Brawn?  No

This week's session will be at the Scout Hut at the usual session tmimes of 7.00pm to 8.15pm. We shall be discovering whether we are athletes or mathaletes using games and a fitness test. As mathaletes we shall use our brains to both try and score the longest words in our alphabean game and the highest points in our mathematical game of strange units. Raw cub powers will then be called upon as we thrash through a gym test that will include press-ups, squats, planks/handstands and a test so horrible we cannot divulge. All this will go towards the fitness badge that some of the newer cubs are working towards. Older cubs, this is your opportunity to show them the way and put in excellent performances

  23  Cross stitch Challenge!

This week's session  will be at the Scout Hut at the usual session time of 7.00pm to 8.15pm. We will be doing some craft activities which will require  higher level of adult supervision than usual, so if you were able to help out, please let me know as soon as possible (if you have already responded to my earlier mail, no need to reply again). If we are not able to get enough volunteers, we may need to re-arrange or cancel the session.

   30  Moonlight Rambles

This week's session will be a short hike from Mentmore village green to the scout hut. We shall meet by the swings on Mentmore village green at 7 pm prompt. Parents are welcome to tag along. Those parents who intend to drop and go are reminded that they should sign in their child before they leave.

Cubs, please bring with you:

1) Appropriate footware. We recommend walking boots or trail shoes, less so wellies, but given that this is only a short hike we suspect that most types of footware will do so long as they don't rub.
2) Appropriate clothing. Needless to say the chances of rain, snow, hail, wind etc are all possible at the moment. Remember to wrap up warm and bring waterproof clothing, gloves etc.
3) A (head) torch. Vital to miss those pot holes and big puddles.
4) Some facts. Those cubs who are able to recite any interesting fact about Mentmore, The Towers etc will be encouraged to share it with the group. Any budding astronomer now is your time to step forward and point out some constellations to the younger cubs, weather permitting.

FEBRUARY 6  Happy New Chinese Year!

This week's session will be at the Scout Hut at the usual session time of 7.00pm  to 8.15pm. We will be doing various activities about Chinese New Year.

13

 Pancake Bingo  No

This week's session will be at the Scout Hut at the usual session times of 7.00pm to 8.15pm. We will be doing some activities with pancakes. We will also be doing investitures towards the end of the session, I will send a separate mail to those who will be invested with some further information.

***HALF TERM***    No Cubs due to the half term break.
27  Games   Cubs will resume after the half term break on Wednesday February 27th at the Scout Hut at the usual session times of 7.00pm to 8.15pm. The session details are still being finalised, but if there are any special requirements, I will send them later in a separate mail.
MARCH 6  Mum's the Word!  Yes  This week's session will be at the Scout Hut at the usual session times of 7.00pm to 8.15pm. As it will be Mother's Day the following Sunday, the Cubs will be preparing a small gift for mum.
It would be helpful to have a couple of parent volunteers; given the nature of the session, it would be preferable if the volunteers were dads!

 Music to my Ears!  Yes

This week's session will be at the Scout Hut at the usual session times of 7.00pm to 8.15pm.  We will be making musical instruments.
We will be a little short on leaders this week and so we will need some additional help to be able run the session effectively. If you are able to help out, please let let me know.

20  Mad Professor   This week's session will be at the Scout Hut at the usual times of 7.00pm to 8.15pm. We will be doing some science activities.
27 Easter Bunnies   This week's session will be at the Scout Hut at the usual session times of 7.00pm to 8.15pm. We will be doing the second part of the fitness challenge, though there will be some Easter Eggs as rewards for hard work! Please make sure that your child has appropriate footwear for physical activity (e.g. trainers).
